Job Summary

Handle afternoon dispatch, arrange vehicle towing, provide parking related information and services, respond to customers regarding policies and procedures and to solve problems/complaints regarding citations/parking issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Handle afternoon and early evening dispatch calls
  • Coordinate with local towing companies and enforcement staff to arrange towing and relocation of vehicles
  • Assist Customer Service Manager and Facilities Manager when needed
  • Respond to routine phone, electronic or personal inquiries from customers/campus faculty, staff, and students to provide parking information on citations, customer accounts, policies, and procedures
  • Research customer accounts, provide information on policy/procedure, provide options and help make decisions to solve customer problems
  • Departmental iBuy purchasing
  • Assist with parking space reservations and billing
  • Make suggestions to administrative personnel regarding problems, feedback, and solutions
  • Compose routine correspondence as needed
  • Process parking permit sales, rental parking spaces, returns and exchanges to customers as needed; process payments for those spaces and perform related data entry
  • Assists customers as needed regarding citations, permits, policies and parking information
  • Help maintain T2 parking database
  • Assist with customer complaints and appeals
  • Process citation payments
  • Maintain and balance cash drawer as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Additional Physical Demands

The majority of work is performed at a desk in a normal office atmosphere. On occasion, excessive phone calls and multiple customers may occur which may cause atmosphere to become more hectic.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the following categories:

A. college coursework in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)

- Associate\'s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)

- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

- Bachelor\'s degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)

B. responsible work experience in customer services, public relations, office administration, business and financial operations, healthcare administration or other closely related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Parking industry
  • Experience using T2 Parking Management Software
  • Familiarity with the University of Illinois campus streets and parking lots

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Above average communication and customer service skills in order to interact with public in courteous and respectful manner.
  • Ability to oversee activities within office as needed.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Appointment Information

This is a 50% part-time Civil Service 4807 - Customer Service Assistant position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 4/18/2025.

  • This is a bargained position, and as such, the salary is determined by the collective bargaining agreement. The collective bargaining agreement sets the salary for this position at \$18.924 per hour.
  • This position is not eligible for hybrid work. Work for this position will be onsite at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis per t e University\'s Workplace Flexibility Policy.
  • Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position now or in the future.
  • The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 2pm-6pm.
