Senior Financial Analyst - Wildfire Mitigation Program

Job Description:

Join PGE's Wildfire Mitigation Team as a Senior Financial Analyst and be at the forefront of developing a leading finance program with unparalleled process development and tracking. Key Responsibilities:

  • Finance Program Development: Establish and lead a pioneering finance program for PGE’s Wildfire Mitigation, focusing on process development, tracking, and financial impact.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with key stakeholders within and outside the company, including internal audit, PGE leadership, OPUC regulators, and other interested parties.

  • Expense Management: Take line-item responsibility for understanding all charges against Wildfire accounting, offering guidance on expense recording, categorization, and making necessary corrections.

  • Data Analysis: Conduct comprehensive economic and financial modeling, revenue and cost projections in collaboration with corporate finance o ensure consistent practices.

  • Operational Analysis: Perform analyses of competitors, operational effectiveness, and capacity utilization to inform strategic decisions.

  • Budget Management: Oversee corporate and site budgets, generate forecasts, analyze utilization, and provide financial insights to the organization.

  • Scenario Modeling: Create detailed financial models of various scenarios to support future business planning decisions.

  • Accuracy Assurance: Investigate and verify the accuracy of financial charges across the company to ensure precise accounting and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Strong understanding of economic and financial principles with the ability to analyze complex data.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple priorities.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Key Responsibilities

Economic Analysis Develops economic analyses for significant and complex corporate projects and/or functions, including examining economics/costs under uncertainty; directs the activities of at least one other team member in completing the analysis

Financial Models Develops longer-term financial models with complex assumptions or relationships (e.g., models that will receive a high level of scrutiny internally and by regulatory groups); coordinates with other departments to ensure model assumptions/outputs align across the organization

Reporting Develops end-to-end load-forecasting models with complex algorithm and presents to management and internal stakeholders; identifies, designs and implements process improvements of the load-forecasting models

Internal Consulting Develops reports documenting complex analyses; may be responsible for preparing annual budgets and/or strategy reports including metrics and measurements

External Interaction Presents analysis and work products to clients and senior management; may direct external consultants to complete projects

Financial Systems Prepares information to be presented to the Oregon Public Utilities Commission and other external parties and answer straightforward questions

Education/Experience/Certifications

Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics or other related field or equivalent experience.

Experience Typically five or more years in related field. Strongly preferred: Experience in utility accounting and understanding of utility business model.

PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite. This individual will need to be located within 75 miles from job location and will need to work in-the-office at least one day a week. Compensation Range:

$87,225.00 - $145,375.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
