DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

This position is open to Colorado residents and non-residents applicants.

This position is covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State of Colorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins).

New employees to the State will be paid biweekly. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

About the position

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is looking for a temporary full-time position at our El Moro Rest Area to perform a variety of cleaning, grounds keeping, and general maintenance activities to maintain the facility for the traveling public. This rest area is located on I-25 at mile marker 18.

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Clean facility and restrooms, restock restroom supplies, wax and strip floors, paint facility doors and trims, and remove graffiti;

Mow and fertilize lawns, prune trees and flower beds, pick up trash from the grounds and empty trash receptacles and haul to dumpster site;

Maintain facility signs and lights, and the computerized/automated irrigation system, including the pressure pumps;

Clear snow from sidewalks, plaza area and parking lot;

Replace and/or repair general plumbing and electrical items, as well as picnic tables and covers;

Repair damage to facility from vandalism, weather and usage;

Inspect, service, and make minor repairs on all equipment to keep in a safe operating condition;

Represent CDOT with contractors, utility companies, city and county officials;

Make contact with public, frequently giving directions and information about the rest area and local area;

Collect, record, and input data for reports; complete and store all required documents;

Attend safety meetings and follow all safety protocols;

May be required during emergencies to help with road blocks due to road closures;

Other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

No previous education or experience is required.
