NJEDA Senior Software Cloud Engineer in Trenton, New Jersey

Job Summary

Responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing, and maintaining effective software and process solutions to both internal and external customers.

$76,184 - $95,230

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a manager's approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently develops software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; and following the software development lifecycle.

  • Apply extensive knowledge and expertise of enterprise applications and development to analyze, program, and implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 & Power platform cloud- based enterprise software in support of business objectives.

  • Determine the root cause for the most complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.

  • Responsible for the analysis, development, testing, deployment, and post-deployment support of the enterprise software application

  • Maintain databases of client information with the strictest attention to privacy and security.

  • Administer credit card payment process. Design, implement, monitor, upgrade credit card transaction integration for EDA web sites. Coordinate payment workflows with business units. Troubleshoot applicant payment issues. Secure PCI compliance certifications and enforce credit card processing best practices.

  • Remain current on new technologies and available vendor packages; evaluate and make technical recommendations to team as necessary.

  • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.

  • Manages and monitors web related hardware, software and components in order to ensure successful operation of web sites and to minimize downtime.

  • Ensure that API communications between existing/new web applications and cloud-based services (such as Microsoft Azure active directory, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, Policy Map) are operational, secure and that data transfer is unimpeded.

  • Researches latest tools and technologies to enhance the features and performance of applications then makes recommendation to team

  • Manages SQL Databases and other data connections the web applications communicate with other systems including 3rd party systems.

  • Strategizes with IT management and other leaders of the EDA on complex initiatives; makes recommendations on solutions to accomplish the needed results timely and effectively.

  • Translates business requirements into viable technical architectures, database schemas, and designs. Analyzes system specifications and translates system requirements into tasks. Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing technical documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code

  • Design, develop, modify, implement and support software components anywhere in the software stack. Supports the deployed applications through debugging, fixing, and maintenance releases.

  • Analyzes the quality of the current web applications and provides recommendations.

  • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, and by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Serve as a technical lead contributing to and directing the efforts of development teams, including internal and external team members.

  • Audit other software engineer’s code and give constructive feedback. Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams and management.

  • Mentor software engineers to allow for skill/knowledge through advice, coaching, and training.

  • Provides technical assistance to assist in implementation of best practices

  • Provides recurring knowledge transfer session with appropriate IT staff.

  • Maintains and modifies custom built applications and off the shelf products as required by user requests. Responds promptly to issues and tests the results to verify the end-user’s needs have been appropriately resolved.

  • Oversees web site analytics, granting access to users, creating reports and assisting business unites with determining marketing effectiveness, hardware utilization and visitor trends.

  • Collaborates and assists in other areas of ITS (programming, systems, doc management) as requested.

  • Acts as a Disaster Recovery Team Member with required participation in any testing and response needed to disasters.

  • Actively communicate with the EDA staff to ensure the applications are meeting the needs of the business.

  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, EDA staff and external customers.

    Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated application development experience including expertise in processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures

  • Must be able to communicate directly with peers, managers, and users while leading development to a completed and successful solution

  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of user’s timelines

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills; technical, design and implementation skills; ability to incorporate functional, user-friendly applications & graphics; creativity a must

  • Dynamics 365 CRM development environments, code merge, deployments, and CI/CD.

  • Expert on Cloud/on-prem databases such as Azure SQL, and SQL Server, MS SSIS and other third-party connector/integration tools.

  • Expert with C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS,, SQL, Azure and DevOps

  • Expert in project management tools including Git, DevOps, JIRA.

  • Expert with web programming tools such as Adobe Master Collection CS, Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Nice to have Radzen and .NET MVC experience

  • Experience in using source code control and knowledge of web standards development using HTML 5.0, CSS 3.0, SharePoint and JavaScript

  • Proficient with configuring computer hardware/software such as Microsoft Windows Servers, Internet Information Services and SQL Server

  • Proficient with graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop

  • Experience with ecommerce payment processing and best practices for PCI compliance

  • Ability to mentor & coach other team members

  • Ability to work outside of the normal business hours

  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently within limited time constraints with little or no supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff

  • Must be able to provide innovative leadership and skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff

  • NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred

  • Ability to learn new software packages

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major in computer science or related field, and/or equivalent professional experience.

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in creating and managing web sites preferred

  • Minimum 7 years developing and programming web applications

    Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience
