Towner Ambulance District Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) in Towner, North Dakota

**Job Summary Emergency Medical Technicians possess the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport emergent patients. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs): perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found in an ambulance respond to emergency calls administer first aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured persons in pre-hospital settings obtain the patients' medical history and vital statistics assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize the patients emergency needs and treatment procedures during transportation utilize necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertain the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicate with dispatchers and hospital staff to provide information about the situation, arrange transfer of patients, report patient information, and receive instructions for further treatment. Ensure the ambulance is clean and washed and kept in a neat orderly condition. After each call, restock and replace used linens, blankets and other supplies, cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures, checks of all equipment so that the ambulance is ready for the next run and maintains ambulance in efficient operating condition. Physical activities include, but not limited to, considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials. Attend continuing education and training classes to maintain current certifications and/or licensure. Keep abreast of new developments in the field, or maintain existing knowledge. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Training Program required for licensing. Must have valid certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and be nationally registered with NREMT. 2+ years BLS experience preferred. Must have a thorough knowledge of emergency medical technician (EMT) principles, practices and techniques, knowledge of how various equipment such as a monitor or defibrillator work and how to troubleshoot problems that may arise. Must possess a valid Driver's License, have a good driving record. Must be 18 years or older.

Position Information Full Time. 36 hours (3 - 12 hr shifts) on a rotating schedule 5 am to 5 pm. Wage is $15-$20/DOE. Other benefits include paid time off, time and half holidays, and HSA contributions. Living quarters available during shift.**
