What You'll Be Doing

The SNS & FICC team supports the Structured Notes and Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) businesses with enhanced reporting, governance, and FP&A requirements. The team’s accountabilities involve Financial Planning & Analysis for that segment of Global Markets while answering various ad-hoc requests from the business and other finance partners. As a Senior Financial consultant, you will be mainly supporting the FICC desk with FP&A monthly and quarterly tasks. You will also provide guidance in regards to the Structured Notes program, ensuring consistent accounting principles are applied across the bank.

How You'll Succeed

  • Support with FP&A activities and various ad-hoc requests -Provide timely and accurate analyses of desks’ financial plans and autonomously reply to ad-hoc requestsfrom business and Finance partners. Solid understanding of Capital markets trading products, FP&A and balance sheet utilization (i.e., funding, RWA etc.…) is also required for the role.

  • Provide guidance to other finance teams and business partners regarding Structured Notes: provide expert guidance to ensure consistent accounting principles are applied on existing as well as new Structured Notes related initiatives. Help in the resolution of issues (valuation, Balance Sheet, regulatory reporting etc. …).

  • Relationship management - Interact with Product control, Accounting, Central Planning, Treasury, Risk Management, Business Partners, and Capital Markets senior management on initiatives.

  • Be proactive and self-disciplined - Try to anticipate challenges and stay committed to deliver quality results in a timely fashion.

  • Conceptual and organizational skills - Being able to see the “big picture” in a complex environment and translate your understanding and insights into a workable project plan

  • Deliver on key initiates - Actively support assigned project streams or responsibilities, providing SME, BA support, ensuring both internal projects and CIBC wide projects are partnered effectively, and executed upon.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in working with Capital Markets products in a previous role in Finance, Accounting, and Product Control environment. It is an asset if you have or are working towards a professional designation (CPA, CFA, FRM, MFin, etc.). Previous experience related to project management will be an asset as well.
