WSP USA Project Portfolio Manager [OneIT] in Toronto, Ontario

Position Summary

The Portfolio Manager will report to the Director, Office of IT PMO, and be responsible managing and qualifying business cases for project intake under your portfolio in accordance with a defined framework and tool set. You are the conduit between the business and the PMO, making sure alignment on business needs and initiatives are considered, resourced, planned and managed. You will work with HUB business partners and build rapport with leaders within your portfolio, supporting HUB PMO Directors, Program Managers and Project Managers that directly impact WSP’s portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:

The Portfolio Manager, IT PMO is responsible for:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: effectively collaborate and negotiate with senior leaders of the business, with a win-win mindset.

  • Communication: communicate effectively and professionally with the business leadership team, One IT leadership pillars

  • Analytics: capture, assess data at a portfolio level and providing reports where needed for consideration.

  • Performance: provide a regular qualitative assessment and recommendations to the business and PMO Governance.

  • Process ownership: qualifying, benefit realization, prioritizing initiatives, resource planning, risk management and budgeting IT PMO portfolios under your remit.

  • Coach and Mentor: advocate, coach and educate the value of the Portfolio Management role to the business.

  • Always adhering to WSP Health and Safety standards

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Master’s degree in; Business, Economics, Finance, Information Technology or a related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience in PMO Portfolio Management at an enterprise level.

  • A relevant program/project management qualification preferred (e.g. PRINCE Practitioner,

  • PMP) would be preferred.

  • 5+ years on projects which are geographically dispersed.

  • Proven experience of line management and the development of individuals within a matrix

  • organization structure. Track record in team transformation and team building.Strong knowledge of portfolio management processes, project management

  • methodologies, tools, and best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • End to End understanding of IT lifecycle (pipeline, resource, demand, project delivery and

  • financial)

Other Requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken English is required.

  • Additional languages an advantage.

  • Portfolio Accreditation desired

  • Must be able to work independently and collaborate effectively with peers and leaders.

  • Experience in strategic operational planning, governance, and portfolio management is highly advantageous.
