SUMMARY

The Regional HR Manager is responsible for providing Human Resources support for the regional team and store management for 15-17 retail locations. As an integrated business partner, you will provide guidance to all levels of store management on associate matters, executing an effective talent strategy. This includes performance management, positive associate relations, talent development, recruitment and retention strategies, policy, and procedure support.

This position reports to the Regional Human Resources Director.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute plays for key HR initiatives in regions – PLAN, KNOW, GROW, ENGAGE

  • Identify plan to staff stores with Store Teams, Follow-up on plan

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support critical staffing stores

  • Conduct Employment Center Training (Interviewing, Hiring, MPAR) as needed

  • Identify talent assessment gaps and partner with Regionals

  • Conduct store/location talent reviews

  • Ensure talent programs are implemented including MDP, participating in RVP Consults

  • Facilitate Talent Management trainings (NLT, New Manager Program)

  • Consult on APRs/File Reviews/IDPs

  • Conduct store follow-up on AVS feedback and action plans

  • Counsel Managers and Associates on people issues

  • AR Dashboard follow-up (AR Focus stores)

  • Partner with Regional HR Director on rollouts of HR initiatives for the regions

  • Execute change management (ADKAR) based on company or COE direction

  • Partner with Store Senior Managers to continuously monitor and improve the associate experience.

  • Provide leadership and support to Managers and Associates on policy interpretation

  • Coach managers on performance management

  • Stay updated on company, HR and centralized support developments and best practices and implement in stores/locations

  • Review and apply all federal, state, and local laws in conjunction with CarMax policies and procedures such as Proper Recording of Time

  • Build and maintain strong effective partnerships with management teams and develop a position of influence to maintain the valued CarMax culture

  • Establish and maintain trust with associates at all levels of the organization.

  • Participate in and/or manage various projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred

5+ years of current Human Resources experience, preferably with a big-box, multi-unit retailer with heavy emphasis on employee relations.

Strong problem-solving and influencing skills, a hands-on approach in working with line management, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

This person will work in our regional office and travel 3-4 days a week among CarMax locations in the region. Some overnight travel is required.
