Description
Japan Consumer Innovation (JCI) Retail Scaling Team is seeking a Business Analyst who contributes to our mission of driving cost and profitability improvements.
We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst to drive cost-to-serve analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and selection profitability insights. This role will focus on identifying, quantifying, and optimizing costs across our fulfillment network, selection, and assortment strategies. The ideal candidate will leverage data analytics, financial modeling, and business intelligence tools to surface actionable insights that drive cost efficiencies and profitability improvements.
Key job responsibilities
Cost-to-Serve Analytics & Optimization
Analyze cost-to-serve across fulfillment networks, supply chain processes, and selection/assortment strategies.
Develop frameworks and metrics to measure and track cost drivers, operational inefficiencies, and potential areas for optimization.
Partner with finance, supply chain, and operations teams to recommend cost reduction strategies while maintaining or improving service levels.
Conduct scenario analysis to model the financial impact of potential optimizations.
Selection & Assortment Profitability Insights
Deep dive into selection and assortment data to assess profitability trends, identifying underperforming or high-cost products.
Provide recommendations on pricing strategies, sourcing optimizations, and SKU rationalization to improve overall margin and unit economics.
Work closely with category management and vendor teams to develop data-backed strategies for inventory efficiency and assortment planning.
Data-Driven Decision Making & Reporting
Build and maintain automated dashboards, reports, and forecasting models to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost and profitability.
Design and implement analytical frameworks to assess trade-offs between cost, speed, and service levels.
Translate complex datasets into actionable insights and communicate findings to senior leadership through clear visualizations and narratives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with finance, supply chain, category management, and operations teams to ensure alignment on cost-saving opportunities and profitability goals.
Work closely with engineering and data science teams to enhance data accessibility and automation for cost tracking and forecasting.
Collaborate with stakeholders to drive initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and cost transparency across the organization.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
Experience with Excel
Experience with SQL
Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in business or financial analysis
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
