Aerotek Certified Welding Inspector in Tigard, Oregon

Description:

We are currently seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with expertise in ultrasonic thickness testing to join our steel fabrication shop. Our shop specializes in producing high-quality steel components for various projects, including high-rise buildings, bridges, marine structures, and other demanding structural steel projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct inspections of welded steel components throughout the fabrication process to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  2. Perform visual inspections of welds, including surface preparation, joint fit-up, and welding parameters, to verify conformance to applicable codes and standards.

  3. Utilize ultrasonic testing equipment to measure the thickness of steel materials accurately, identifying any potential defects or inconsistencies.

  4. Interpret ultrasonic thickness test results and document findings in detailed inspection reports.

  5. Collaborate with welding personnel, fabricators, and project managers to address any issues identified during inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

  6. Review welding procedures and welder qualifications to verify compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

  7. Conduct pre-inspection meetings with project teams to discuss inspection requirements, procedures, and timelines.

  8. Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and relevant documentation in accordance with established quality control procedures.

  9. Provide guidance and training to welding personnel on quality control practices, welding techniques, and inspection procedures.

  10. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in inspection technology, and changes in codes and standards relevant to welding and steel fabrication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Certification as a Welding Inspector (CWI) issued by the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent certification from a recognized organization.

  2. Certification in Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level II certification preferred.

  3. Previous experience working in a steel fabrication shop or similar manufacturing environment, with a focus on structural steel projects for high-rise buildings, bridges, marine structures, etc.

  4. Strong understanding of welding processes, techniques, and quality control standards.

  5. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.

  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate inspection findings and recommendations.

  7. Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.

  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  9. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines as required by project schedules.
