Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: Title: Mechanical Engineer (with Emphasis on Product Line Management) Mission: To support all aspects of CBE product line from new product development to existing product line maintenance from production of models, to manufacturing drawings to bills of materials and other technical documentation essential to the production of CBE manufactured and integrated products. Position Reports to: Operations Manager (Buddy Tincher); Job Location: 80% Taylor, TX, Up to 20% Visiting Vendors and Sometimes Customers Typical Work Week: Monday thru Friday, and as needed to complete projects on schedule. Travel: 0-20% Working Schedule: Average 45 Hours per Week Average is Expected (7:30AM to 5:30PM CST on Office Days [Taylor]; Potentially More if Travel is Required or Projects are Running Behind Schedule) Key Objectives / Primary Roles: Assist Sales with the creation of sales and approval drawings for sales opportunities and new orders. To assist and guide processing equipment orders, verifying existing designs configurations and making design adjustments to ensure compatibility Assisting to make design changes to existing CBE designs to customize them for a given project assembling BOMs and assembly lists and setting up jobs in the CBE MRP system for processing and answers vendor and CBE production questions regarding part / assembly fitment and assembly. To supply production certified BOMs and manufacturing drawings for all jobs to CBE Production and its vendors. To support CBE Production with updates / maintenance to existing manufacturing drawings and bills of materials in Fishbowl MRP, MODS (Manufacturing Order Data Sheets) and EQID), and production build books needed to document how to assemble all standard CBE equipment. Answer on-going questions and concerns of the CBE Production Team and provide clarifications as needed to ensure the timely production of customer orders that will meet or exceed all CBE stated customer expectations. Skills and Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years (or more) on-the-job experience in Project Management and Mechanical Engineering (Lack of a College Degree is Not a Disqualifier) Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor (or equivalent CAD 3D modeling software package) Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software suite Proficient in the use of ERP or MRP (or equivalent manufacturing software package) Proficient in the use of Microsoft Teams (or equivalent remote video conferencing software package) Ability to generate detailed approval drawings for specific customer applications that include all equipment dimensions, customer inputs (bag, pallet, slip sheet, electrical voltage, etc) and detail special requirements Ability to generate, review, approve and maintain detailed BOMs and manufacturing drawings for the CBE Production Team to use in production of equipment and systems. Ability to adopt and use CBE document control system (Production Files folder system) Ability to track project tasks for multiple projects at the same time (usual workload is no more than 6 projects at once) Ability to provide project information on a production schedule Capabilities to outsource and work with subcontractors for engineering needs Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Prioritized) Ensure that stated mission is successful. After creation of approval drawings and certification of the MODS, Pull all BOMs, verify them and attach them to the job file for job turn over to CBE production. Receive and review Project Files from CBE Project Engineer (Sales Quotation, Sales Drawings, PO, MODS, Buyouts, draft QB Quote and Approval drawings and achieve complete understanding of application and job requirements. Use the information gathered in #4 above to pull and verify all BOMs for each job, verify all assemblies, verify integration of those assemblies and subsequently deliver them to CBE Production Team for manufacturing. NOTE: Approval drawings are typica ly expected within 5-10 business days of receipt of order from the customer depending on project size and BOMs delivered to production within 5-10 business days after return of signed approval drawings from the customer (depending on job size, complexity and level of standardization); if no approval drawings are required, BOMs are generally expected to be released to CBE Production within 5 business days of receipt of order from the customer. In support of and in partnership with the Operations Manager, ensure that deliverables to customers, CBE Sales Team and CBE Production team are delivered in a timely manner (timely means within a reasonable time period from when all customer inputs are known [such as: bag dimensions, electrical voltage, pallet dimensions, slip sheet dimensions, total scope of equipment required, total physical space provided for equipment by customer, customer down payment, signed approval drawings, etc). Regularly and clearly communicate project status updates to the customer, CBE Sales Team and CBE Production Team especially if engineering phase of the project (period of time begin order entry and turnover of signed approval drawings and BOMs to CBE Production Team) is taking longer than expected and causing project delays (for whatever reason CBE or customer caused). Manage / maintain all project information using the document control system (Production Files drive) that can be accessed by all authorized CBE personnel. Aid in the modification of existing designs of existing products to meet the needs of specific customer applications and generate supporting mechanical drawings and BOMS to support the needed changes. Conduct post build reviews of all completed projects prior to ship date to capture lessons learned and make corrections to as built BOM and production drawings Regularly help to implement ideas to improve product quality, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. Simplify and standardize product designs and manufacturing processes.
