BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB:

Maintains citys Streets, Parks and Right of Ways in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. Duties include: operating construction equipment, heavy machinery and repairing, maintaining facilities and equipment. Maintenance of streets, Parks, curb and gutter systems, Storm sewer systems and street signage. Must be available to work overtime and be On Call as assigned by supervisor.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to: Crew Leaders
  • Directs: This is a non-supervisory position
  • Other: Has contact with other departments and has daily contact with the public

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

This is a description of the way this job is currently performed; there is potential for accommodation.

  • Asphalt pavement repair and pavement level-up.
  • Maintenance of curb and gutter systems and storm sewer systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of city owned signage
  • Maintenance and repair of city park grounds, and right of ways .
  • Keeps shop area clean, equipment, and department vehicles
  • Operates heavy and motorized equipment including backhoe, dump trucks, front-end loader, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Provides quality customer service to city staff, the general public, and all other work contacts.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned. Works with Street/ Grounds Maintenance, Water Department and as directed.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

  • Street maintenance procedures preferred.
  • F irst aid and CPR procedures.

Ability to:

Operate heavy machinery;

Move 50 pounds, occasionally move 100 pounds,

Understand written and verbal instruction;

Work safely and effectively with others.

Read and comprehend operation and safety manuals; signs, maps, office memos, labels, blueprints, etc.

Take notes, messages and fill out work orders.
