About you and this role

Are you pragmatic but also passionate about working in the laboratory? Do you like to be involved in experiments? Then Dow is looking for you! We have an exciting career opportunity for a Research & Development Technician to reinforce our Packaging & Specialty Plastics Lab Team in Tarragona, Spain. The Junior R&D/TS&D technician provides basic technical support to prepare and execute experiments for new product development and technical service for internal and external customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and safely performing laboratory activities, maintaining and running relevant testing equipment and documenting data.

  • Preparing for and conducting standard and some non-routine procedures using relevant equipment and instruments, for which activities may include sample or materials preparations, equipment setup and/or configurations, and proper handling and disposal of waste materials.

  • Carefully recording readings and observations using relevant equipment and instruments.

  • You are responsible for calibration, safe operation, and routine maintenance of simple and moderately complex equipment. You will also troubleshoot faulty equipment effects repairs or initiate repair processes as appropriate.

  • Maintaining inventories of consumable materials, chemicals, and supplies related to activities by anticipating usage rates, order lead times, and ordering/purchasing procedures.

  • Closely communicates with the technology leader or lead scientists to enable or accelerate problem resolution.

  • Participating in work group team meetings to address safety, task & job planning, process improvement, problem solving, and other relevant topics.

  • You understand and follow appropriate EH&S standards; lead by example in the area of safety behaviors by promoting safe work habits.

Qualifications

  • You hold a technical vocational degree as lab analyst

  • Mechanical/electrical background is a plus

  • Spanish and English are required
