Centene Corporation Manager, Storage Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida

Position Purpose:

Provides data storage and data center / large server room related services across the enterprise. Oversees enterprise storage including storage network (SAN) design, engineering and operations. Provides full support for the current and future SAN, NAS, and object infrastructure utilizing on-premises data centers, colos, and cloud services. This role will also have a significant focus on an enterprise-level Disaster Recovery project and colocation data center buildout.

  • Leads and supervises activities to plan, design, build, install, and monitor block and NAS storage systems, SAN, cloud storage, backup and recovery, and related technologies.

  • Responsible for the security of storage assets. Develops a systems security architecture, then directs the implementation and management of security solutions appropriate for that architecture.

  • Develops deep understanding in technical domain and demonstrates thought leadership in emerging areas.

  • Ensures storage and backup components are operational and performing as designed.

  • Oversees an on-call function to provide 24/7 response to critical issues.

  • Develops deep understanding in technical domain and demonstrates thought leadership in emerging areas.

  • Mentors and develops the infrastructure team in accomplishing operational support duties.

  • Ensures all Storage Engineering Change, Release, Incident, Problem, Security, and Configuration Management processes, policies, operating plans, and mandates are followed.

  • Shares regular reporting on status updates to senior management.

  • Collaborates with external parties for IT procurement and vendor related IT issues.

  • Works with internal stakeholders (product team, senior management, etc.) which contribute to technical strategy and recommend industry best practices.

  • Mentors and guides staff.

  • Manages the hiring and training of new and existing staff, conducts performance reviews, and provides leadership, technical guidance and coaching.

  • Shares knowledge and develops staff capabilities to strengthen understanding of business issues and best practices.

  • Develops and communicates organizational objectives; inspires and motivates team members to achieve results.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Education/Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience.

Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.

Master's Degree preferred

Technical Skills:

  • One or more of the following skills are desired:

  • Dell storage arrays (PowerMax, PowerStore, Isilon, PowerScale, PowerPath, etc.), NetApp storage arrays (ONTAP, E-Series), AWS services (S3, FSx for ONTAP, IAM, Route53), Aviatrix, Cisco MDS, Datadobi StorageMAP, GitLab, Ansible, Terraform

  • Knowledge of: relational database design and architectural principles and methodologies, High Availability and Disaster Recovery options, VMware, Windows and Linux operating systems, file systems, SQL, MySQL, and Oracle databases, networking, fiber channel concepts and technologies, TCP/IP, DNS

  • Experience with: management and implementation of SAN storage designs

  • Experience with one or more of the following: Veeam, AWS Backup or other backup software

Pay Range: $98,900.00 - $183,100.00 per year

Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives.
