    What You Will Do:

    The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role is a critical leadership position that is responsible for directing and supervising the Department-wide top management responsibilities for legislative budgets and operating budgets. This position represents the Department before the Legislature, Legislative Budget Commission, and other external stakeholders.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing leadership and oversight for financial and fiscal management components, including the development and submission of the Department’s annual Legislative Budget Request (LBR), implementation and maintenance of My Florida Market Place system (MFMP), formulating financial policy, and leading and directing operational units and employees responsible for Contract Administration and Purchasing, Accounting, Revenue Management, Budget, Monitoring, and General Services.

    This position provides Department Leadership and Management with recommendations and guidance to facilitate decision making in accordance with controlling laws, administrative rules, contractual obligations, and collaborates with other offices, divisions, and bureaus within the Department to help deliver a seamless and innovative workforce experience for the enterprise.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to identify the nature of problems.

  • Possess a strong working knowledge of the State of Florida accounting system.

  • Possess a strong working knowledge and experience with the State of Florida Legislative Budget Request (LBR) process.

  • Ability to manage and supervise effectively, to include motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.

  • Proficient in using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software via a personal computer.

  • Ability to research technical issues; have the ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data to provide information.

  • Possess the ability to understand, research, and apply applicable Federal, State, and Department rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate assignments, and possess the ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing and to maintain effective working relationships within and outside the Department.

  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with the public and staff.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of management experience

  • Eight (8) years of finance and accounting experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree, or higher, from an accredited college or university, in finance, accounting, business management, or related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.

    Background Checks:
