TOD Controls Engineer
We are seeking a highly capable Process Control and Data Analytics Engineer for advancing our understanding of the display glass manufacturing process. Candidate must have a goodknowledgeinmachine learning theories, experience on data analytics, and understanding in control and automation.This position also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with globally distributed researchers and engineers, to developsolutions to improve manufacturing process.
Day to Day Responsibilities
Participate in research & engineering projects providing data analytics, machine learning, software development, and modeling support to Corning technology community and to enable effective innovation and competitive advantage of Corning products.
Work independently or as part of the team on data preparation, machine learning model development and testing and/or software development & modifications in support of Corning products.
Build/develop supervisory control layer for calculating optimal setpoints for process control in a manufacturing system; this will require coordinating and synchronizing the existing physics-based/first-principles models to provide an overall plant processview.
Education & Experience
- Masteror PhDinComputer Science/Information Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Statistics and Data Science
Skills
Required Skills:
Proficient programming skills in Python, SQL, MATLAB or C#
Familiar with MLOps practices and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Knowledge in control system, including DCS, PLC, SCADA, etc.
Knowledge in control theory, advanced controls and/or first-principle/physics-based modeling
Desired Skills:
Familiar with Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Deep Learning (Nature Language/Image/Time Series) model/algorithm
Experience in big data processing tools such as BigQuery, Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
Good knowledge inmaterialscience (physics,chemistry) and engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical)
Soft Skills:
Strong interpersonal & presentation skills and ability to work as a team player or individual contributor. Must be a proactive and solution-oriented problem solver
Strong technical curiosity with desire to take on challenging technical problems
