Syracuse University Medical Billing Specialist in Syracuse, New York
The Medical Billing Specialist supports Health Care and Counseling at The Barnes Center at The Arch, ensuring all components of the revenue cycle are operating efficiently.
Duties include:
Prepare, scrub and submit claims. Research accounts receivable, resolve insurance denials/rejections. Post payments into a practice management software.
Work with campus partners including the Bursar's Office, Cash Operations, the Budget Manager to provide information for deposits, credits and adjustments, management of accounts receivable etc.
Work with providers, clearinghouses and insurance companies to complete credentialing and enrollment. Prepare reports for QI, compliance or auditing purposes.
Provide staff education on health insurance, medical billing and coding guidelines, use of the credit card machine etc. Manage updates to the fee schedule, and work with Application Specialist on workflow changes in the practice management software.
Respond to student inquiries about medical bills. Offer presentations for students on medical billing at Syracuse University.
Provide front desk support, including collecting insurance information, checking patients in, answering phones, and scheduling appointments. Occasional weekend hours may be required.
