The Mobile Apps & Messaging Platforms team is responsible for delivering iOS apps that globally set the standard for customer experience and showcase Apple's revolutionary hardware and iOS technologies. You’ll be joining a team of world class engineers and interacting on a daily basis with teams that span across Apple including iOS software and hardware engineering, Apple Store Online and Apple Retail. We are looking for a talented and dedicated senior engineer to join our team to bring passion for infrastructure and distributed systems to build world-class data platforms/products at a very large scale across cloud environments. You will be a key owner of products and tools and be responsible for delivering industry grade, quality solutions and their lifecycles for both internal and third party cloud.

Description

We are seeking a skilled Build Engineer who is passionate about operational excellence through automation and engineering processes. As a Build Engineer, play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless integration of development and build processes, to deliver best in class and highly available systems. Work with the application development teams to understand infrastructure requirements, while promoting efficiency, scalability, security, and reliability throughout the software lifecycle. Bring expertise in build process, automation, and infrastructure management will be crucial to the success of our projects. You love building system software, solving what is sometimes thought to be impossible problems, and you have a deep passion for the customer experience. You will go beyond the industry norm and demonstrate creativity in problem solving, ability to think dynamically, and adapt quickly to new technical areas.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years development skills (Swift, Python, Perl, and Bash) and experience with TDD standard methodologies

  • 2+ years experience with Git, CI/CD, make, cmake, macOS, iOS, or UNIX development experience.

  • 2+ years experience with Jenkins pipelines

  • 2+ years experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of continuous integration and delivery workflow, as well as branching strategies

  • Experience with crafting, running, and solving problems in native builds (Objective-C, C++) and have a solid understanding of compilation

  • Excellent problem solving skills, possessing the ability to communicate with the team on triage, remediation, root cause, and possible long term improvements.

  • Should be highly proactive with a keen focus on improving the uptime availability of our mission-critical services

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate cross-functionally with program managers and engineering partners

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while continuously evaluating emerging technologies

  • Familiarity with logging and observability technologies such as Open telemetry and Prometheus or similar

  • Validated software engineering experience and field in design, testing, source code management, and CI/CD practices.

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
