Google Energy and Location Strategy Project Cost Manager in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business or Project Management, Engineering, Economics, related fields, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.

  • 5 years of experience applying cost management principles such as budget, schedule, scope, risk management, or other related topics.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD.

  • Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Cost Certified Professional (CCP).

  • Experience in large-scale project management combined with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional partners.

  • Solid prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) is part of the broader Global Data Center team, whose mission is to help Google solve customers’ business challenges by providing global infrastructure and resource solutions to support these datac enters.

The Cloud and Asset Portfolio Solutions Center of Expertise within ELS serves as the interface between the global data center asset delivery and portfolio management function and our product customers requiring data center space. We provide the programs, structure and tool sets for execution teams to consistently make high-quality decisions at scale, faster, and with less risk.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Be responsible for monitoring cost and schedule obligations in all developer built building construction projects in all regions, following all required processes and procedures as required by the PMO Program Lead.

  • Monitor and analyze project(s) progress against established baselines, identifying deviations, risks, and opportunities for mitigation and escalations.

  • Conduct regular project status meetings with stakeholders, providing accurate and timely reports on project performance including schedule adherence, cost variance, change orders, and risks.

  • Develop and implement regular internal partner communication of project status, including timely escalation of all project issues to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.

  • Be responsible for the accuracy of and updates to appropriate project level data within enterprise tools (e.g. Quickbase database).
