Job Posting:

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Operations Supervisor to provide administrative (i.e., scheduling, timesheets, HR support, etc.) and field supervision (i.e., fleet cleanliness/inspection, site survey, job performance, etc.) to Ready-Mix, Tanker and Sweeper drivers. This position reports to the Operations Manager, RMC, and is located at our Sumner, WA, location.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Direct supervision of hourly drivers to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of product to customer sites.

  • Monitor, review, and approve work schedules and timesheets.

  • Administer performance and disciplinary program in accordance with company policy.

  • Participate in recruitment, training, and daily work direction.

  • Administer the safety program including monthly safety meetings, tool box talks, etc.

  • Review and/or investigate vehicle mishaps and report findings.

  • Ensure environmental compliance and assist with spill responses at job sites.

  • Interact with key customers in the field regarding delivery and quality issues; liaise with customers during pre-pour meetings and high-volume jobs to ensure trucks are routed efficiently.

  • Respond to public issues and complaints in the field.

  • Coordinate with Dispatch, Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and Sales to monitor driver performance, manage customer requirement and ensure proper staffing/equipment needed provide quality delivery.

  • Establish good working relationships with on-site project managers, superintendents, foremen and work crews.

  • Inspect RMC vehicles for interior/exterior cleanliness.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate is required.

  • Post-secondary degree preferred.

  • Combination of education, training, & comparable experience.

  • 1 to 2 years employee supervisory experience.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of ready mix, aggregate and soil delivery procedures, including knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations such as DOT and FMCSA.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Sharp critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Excellent conflict resolution skills.

  • Must possess the ability to adjust quickly & calmly to changing circumstances and situations.

  • $88,150 - $121,210 / year

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and computer systems; visual acuity required to read, verify, and enter various data from documents related to the work.

  • Work is conducted in the field and office. Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.

  • Ability to work Saturdays and on an occasional Sunday if needed.

  • Have the ability and desire to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds to chest height.

  • Ability to climb ladders, ascend stairs and walk on uneven surfaces.

  • Must be able to hear and communicate with others.

  • Must have a valid commercial driver’s license CDL.
