Responsibilities

Lead Activity Coordinator

Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health is a 64-bed Residential Treatment Center that offers quality behavioral health services to adolescent males and females aged 7-20 with psychiatric, behavioral, or conduct issues.

The Lead Activity Coordinator will correlate of all aspects of Recreation and Activities, a service provided to meet the physical, emotional, social, cultural, recreation, and rehabilitation needs of all patients. We are looking for a dynamic individual to assist with creating fresh and fun exciting activities for our residents!

With direction from the Clinical Director, the LAC will plan and implement therapy groups, exercise and recreation/activity interventions and design to reach treatment goals and outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of recreation and therapeutic activities.

  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development, effective communication and cognitive motor learning.

  • Ability to communicate, document and report patient response and behavior.

  • Ability to work effectively with patients of various ages, mental competence and physical disabilities.

    Qualifications

    Education: High School Diploma ; BS Degree Preferred Experience: Prior residential treatment psychiatric experience with adolescent children preferred. Age-Specific Competencies: Child, Adolescent Licensure/Certification:CPR and CPI

    Other:

    Reading, writing, and math skills; assessment, evaluation, and interpretation skills; knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; flexibility; time management and organization skills; Willing to work flexible hours and willing to travel, including overnight, in work capacity; must exert self-control in hostile or volatile situations; able to respond well to deadlines.
