Job Description
As a Punch Press Operator, you will be responsible for setting up jobs by staging and placing materials, performing necessary measurements, and programming machines to execute cuts and fabrications. You will use various equipment to complete assigned projects, perform routine maintenance on machines, and maintain written records of tasks performed, time spent, and any additional data required by the project. It is essential to maintain assigned tools, equipment, and working areas in clean, neat, and orderly condition while using prescribed safety equipment and following safety rules.
Responsibilities
Set up jobs by staging and placing materials.
Perform necessary measurements for project preparation.
Program machines to perform cuts and fabrication.
Use required equipment to complete assigned projects.
Perform routine machine maintenance.
Keep written records of tasks performed, time spent, and any other additional data required by the project.
Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and working areas in clean, neat, and orderly condition.
Use prescribed safety equipment and follow safety rules.
Essential Skills
Punch press operation
Blueprint reading
General labor skills
Tape measure proficiency
Machine operating skills
Computer operation
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Forklift experience - preferred
Previous manufacturing experience (1 year)
Ability to properly use and read a tape measure
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Metal fabrication experience
High school diploma or equivalent qualification

Work Environment
Machine Shop Environment with the use of various equipment including tape measure, Marvel Model 81 Band saw, forklift, punch press, iron worker, air tools, and simple hand tools.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suffolk, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
