Saint-Gobain Senior Project Engineer (Stow) in STOW, Ohio

The Senior Project Engineer oversees the planning, execution, and completion of major capital engineering projects. Responsibilities may include managing project schedules, budgets, and resources, coordinating with clients and stakeholders, leading project teams, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, identifying and mitigating risks, and providing technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Broad knowledge of engineering disciplines, manufacturing and automation is applied to solve various problems in both new and existing production lines in 24/7/365 environments, expertise in system engineering, electrical controls, material handling and process equipment to specify materials, methods and machines appropriate for production needed. Extensive use of CAD for product and die design as well as plant layout of new and existing equipment. Continuous focus on improvement of safety, quality, productivity, reliability and cost in all production aspects. Secondary resource for compliance with building, electrical and safety codes as well as risk management.

Additionally, the Senior Project Engineers will be responsible for contributing to project proposals, feasibility studies, and technical reports, and mentoring junior engineers. The incumbent will need strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills., This role will report to the NorPro Engineering Manager.

Major Capital Projects

  • Conceptualize, plan and execute small to large (>$5MM) projects both in home plant and other locations as needed in various worldwide plants

  • Work with external engineering firms to design and construct buildings and processes

  • Supervise and direct internal and contract personnel in the execution of projects

  • Track KPIs and manage to meet project and business objectives

  • Communicate as appropriate inside and outside the company

Plant Support

  • Direct support of daily operations as needed in home plant with regard to all plant and process equipment

  • Design of all extrusion dies and equipment

  • Facility wide responsibility for risk management

  • Design and implementation of projects and activities pertaining to plant infrastructure and utilities (electrical, water, access control, plant air, RO water.)

  • Assist the maintenance group with high level troubleshooting of equipment and processes. Recommends, modify or update equipment as needed to improve reliability and productivity

Equipment and Process Subject Matter Expert:

  • Design, specify, purchase and install various production equipment including layouts and planning of production areas

  • Design and implement modifications and improvements to equipment as needed

Leadership and Workforce Management:

  • Manages, direct, guide and mentor Project Engineers

  • Provides direction to remote sites on new equipment as part of project execution Mentoring less experienced engineers

Customer Product Design:

  • Provide custom design products for customers as needed

  • Develop new extrusion dies and equipment to manufacture new products and geometries. Coordinate production of products at appropriate facility

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering or equivalent experience with a successful record of accomplishment safely leading the completion of several major industrial project installations.

  • Masters Degree in engineering or business administration preferred

  • 5+ years as Manufacturing, Plant, or Industrial Engineer (Major capital project (>$5MM) planning and execution. Work in 24/7/365 manufacturing environment)

  • 10 years manufacturing, Plant or Industrial Engineer, Automation, Material handling, risk control preferred

  • 25-30% Domestic and/or International Travel

Required:

  • AutoCad including 3D

  • Building and Industrial codes (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, IBC, ASTM)

  • Project Management

  • Problem Solving/Analysis

  • Leadership

  • Communication and presentation

  • Material Handling

  • People Leadership & Development

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including MS Project
