Summary

The Senior Director, GAF Operating Systems Implementation and Excellence will provide subject matter expertise to the organization in both manufacturing operations and across the GAF enterprise on systems implementation and various integrations that will engage our workforce to deliver best in class results for our customers. The role will serve as the primary liaison between GAF and Standard Industries as well as other operating companies under the Standard portfolio of companies as well as engage with vendors, customers and other constituents as needed on projects and with new technologies to serve our business. The dynamic leader in this role is as much focused on technical solutions as they will be accountable for the engagement of our employees to include utilization of all tools implemented from the frontline employee through to the executive leadership team. A successful measure will be the keen ability to listen to internal customers and provide solutions to better serve our external customers with our primary objective always being to be customer first centric.

The role will be responsible for guiding a strategic roadmap for the process technology team to modernize our manufacturing plants while supporting an integration of our business system as a major component of that modernization effort to include data systems and applications used by operations to provide efficient, accurate and timely visibility on production output, maximizing efficiencies and improvement trends. The leader in this role will work closely with other strategies across manufacturing that rely heavily on the tools being used within our sites; maintenance, supply chain, finance, human resources and IT in order to improve various efficiencies within our business and will create alignment across GAF’s Manufacturing and Operations functions around the future enhancements and integrations of the systems and applications. The Sr. Director will also collaborate in frequency with

Engineering, IT, Procurement, R&D, and Operations to stay attuned to new areas of technology and process improvement opportunities.

The dynamic leader will focus on ensuring the development of our engineers so that GAF has the resources and capabilities to continue executing our growing capital budgets and plant expansions. He/she will be responsible for periodic reviews of our talent, structure, and support models to include a consideration with tailoring for complexity and size of plants.

The leader in this role will also be responsible for the development of a decentralized team and embedded resources with direct accountability or reliance on outputs from the functional area of responsibility. The role will develop teams and individuals by mentoring, providing career development opportunities, and guiding objective setting and goal alignment across our teams. The position plays a critical role in developing and driving company strategy surrounding our approach to attracting and developing talent and executing all aspects of talent to ensure we deliver best-in-class operations results. This role is critical to ensure our operations successfully balance operational demands with increasing our manufacturing capacity. The leader in this role will inspire through multiple touchpoints and indirect reports with significant overall direct and indirect budget/capital planning responsibility.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build and articulate vision for our current and future operating systems to include collaboration with various integrations.

  • Build benefits cases and articulate projects for approval from stakeholders.

  • Driving data standardization and consistency across the organization by driving and measuring the adoption and operationalization of the tools.

  • Identifying the inputs and outputs of each application and ensuring that each application is being used as efficiently as practical.

  • Ensure the availability of contextualized data from all of the applications within Operations to enable the creation of enterprise-wide dashboards, data visualizations, and other analysis outputs.

  • Supporting plants with specific data analysis or process support as needed to address specific situations.

  • Develop strategies for deployment and adoption of data systems, while tracking implementation at each location.

  • Facilitate stakeholder reviews, effective communication strategies across network and coordinate across teams as needed.

  • Coach, mentor, and guide leaders on how to consider plant needs, roadmaps, strategies, and other considerations for continuous improvement efforts.

  • Ensure adequate headcount and staffing for various positions within our operations to support systems and other efforts as needed in collaboration with workforce planning and operations teams to include informing appropriate organizational design, resource needs and facilitating stakeholders to critical decision points surrounding the same.

  • Collaborate with the GBS (GAF Business Systems) team on kaizen events and new business tools to ensure widest implementation among all departments.

  • Assist, as required, in identifying and evaluating potential acquisitions and strategic partnerships to enable the company to meet sales, growth, and market share objectives.

  • Represent the company with stakeholders, clients and business partners.

  • Directly support business development meetings as requested.

  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or related field

  • Minimum of 15+ years demonstrated manufacturing experience, 5 of which were leading implementation of operations systems or an integration

  • Advanced degree or certification is desirable i.e. MBA, Black Belt, CRE, CMfgE, etc.

  • Integration engineering experience preferred

  • Experience in coaching/mentoring direct and indirect reports to influence their performance.

  • Proven experience with capital planning and direct execution of capital projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in change management within the capital planning and execution environment

  • Superior leadership and team-building skills with a demonstrated track record of leading teams to achieve best-in-class results

  • Practical knowledge and experience utilizing world-class manufacturing techniques

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various departments and levels of the organization.

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in engineering and engineering management.

  • Solid working knowledge of operational and capital budgeting

  • Extensive and varied experience in plant operations, commissioning and start-up, and the application of engineering principles in a plant environment

Annual Salary Range: 171,000-218,500
