JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job ID: 21367 Position Title: Assistant Professor of Graphic Design TTC Title and Code: Assistant Professor (FA040) FTE: 100% Principal Work Location: UW-Stevens Point Main Campus Supervisor: Assistant Dean, School of Design and Communication Position Summary: Graphic Design Tenure Track Professor The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point invites applications for one full-time tenure-track position in Graphic Design at the assistant professor level, with position beginning in August 2025. UWSPs Graphic Design (GD) program is part of an established NASAD accredited program in a School of Design and Communication (SDC) within a College of Fine Arts & Communication (COFAC). The SDC combines Graphic Design, Integrated Studio Arts, Interior Architecture, Media Studies, and Professional Communication. We are seeking designers with an MFA or equivalent degree who have interest in teaching GD curriculum throughout the School of Design and Communication. We are eager to create learning opportunities in design education that prepare students for the complex and emerging challenges in the 21st century. A successful candidate will approach communication design broadly and be able to teach some aspects of design thinking, experience and user-centered design, systems and strategies, design research, understanding audience and user experience, utilizing image and text, and storytelling narratives. Effective written and verbal communication skills are required. Technical expertise with industry software is expected. A successful candidate will approach communication design broadly and be able to teach a rigorous design process which includes, but is not limited to, conducting design research, developing design systems and strategies, understanding the audience and user experience, and defining project goals to create successful designs that utilize image and text to engage the viewer. The candidate should be able teach at all levels of the Graphic Design program with an ability to integrate areas of practice into our curriculum in some of the following: design foundations, typography, branding, environmental graphic design (including wayfinding), information design, publication, package design, user experience and user interface, augmented reality, 3D modeling and printing, , current and emerging digital platforms and entrepreneurial approaches, marketing, promotions, public relations, copywriting, social media practice, illustration, book arts, time-based work, current and emerging digital platforms and entrepreneurial approaches.
