Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The CNC Machinist/Programmer processes the ability to work independently. He/she must be able to program from a C.A.D. drawing /model and is responsible for ensuring that the products are manufactured per engineering drawings, workmanship documentation, quality procedures, customer specifications and engineering direction.

PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with different metals and be involved in developing production processes.

  • Cross-train and acquire new skills on multiple types of equipment.

  • Committed to safety and the safety of the team.

  • Work with complete integrity and compliance to company rules and regulations.

  • Set up and operate CNC programmable controls and read and understand G/M code.

  • Set up fixtures and tooling to run CNC production processes.

  • Ensure parts meet specifications using appropriate measuring instruments such as Micrometers, Vernier Micrometers, Height Gages, Bore Gages' etc.

  • Read blueprint drawings, job orders, tooling instructions or standard charts to determine specification procedures.

  • Perform routine machine maintenance. Monitor tool wear, change tools and inserts as required.

  • Adjust offsets to maintain part integrity. Demonstrate ability to hold very tight tolerances and meet production standards.

  • Be part of continuous improvement efforts to improve output, quality, costs and delivery.

  • Run established production processes on multiple machine/control configurations.

EDUCATION:

This position requires a high school diploma G.E.D. equivalent and previous experience in mechanical assembly. Knowledge of the following is required:

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Blueprint reading and knowledge of GD & T

  • 4-6 years of MasterCAM software experience

  • Able to write programs

  • MAZATROL SMOOTHX CONTROL experience highly preferred

  • Mill Operator

  • Lathe Operator

  • Basic knowledge of feeds, speeds and materials preferred

  • Knowledge of tooling and fixtures

  • Knowledge of MasterCAM G code and program editing is highly preferred

  • Capable of using all gaging and equipment as required

  • Some CMM experience preferred, checking first part.

Position Requirements

Work Environment

This position is required to work in manufacturing environment facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Repetitive motions, frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and parts containers may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust
