CITY OF STERLING Police Cadet in STERLING, Colorado
POSITION: Police Cadet Closing Date 11/15/2023 5:00 PM Mountain
++Under this program, a cadet will be sponsored by the employer for P.O.S.T. certification++
REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -Applicants must be 21 years of age by P.O.S.T. certification and attainment of the Basic Peace Officer Certification, U.S. citizen, High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent, possession of a valid Colorado Driver's license. Education and Special Requirements -Cadets will be required to enter into an agreement with the City to repay academy expenses in the event of employment separation within four years of fulltime employment.
WAGE: Tuition and living expenses are covered during the academy, plus a $1,788.46 bi-weekly stipend while attending. -After graduation and upon being sworn in as a Sterling Police Officer, the Cadet transitions to a fulltime Police Officer (Salary $2,127.34 bi-weekly).

DAYS/HOURS: Full time position, variable days/hours to be arranged with Employer.
DUTIES: The Sterling Police Department Police Cadet program is designed to help excellent, non-sworn candidates start a career as a Sterling Police Recruit. Cadets are hired as civilian positions and sponsored by the SPD to attend a Colorado P.O.S.T. ( Police Officers Standards and Training ) certification program. This offers the opportunity to build a foundation upon which they may become fulltime Police Officers. Upon successfully graduating with a P.O.S.T. certificate, Cadets are sworn in as a Sterling Police Officer and enter the field training program.
