This position offers a hybrid work schedule which includes telework days and in office days at a DLI office building.

This position is responsible for design, development, and implementation of a data infrastructure that supports a wide range of customers and systems. In this capacity, they are responsible for the creation and maintenance of a complex data architecture that crosses multiple data sources, systems, and interested partners.

They are a recognized leader in the data supporting Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) business units and assist with the planning and execution of improvements to how data is accessed and used. To accomplish this, the incumbent collaborates with internal and external partners to identify needs, design the appropriate supporting infrastructure, and execute related tasks. They also partner with the product manager and owner(s) of various DLI systems to ensure improvements are evaluated for impact and measured for success.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years’ experience* in data management to include analysis and reporting.

*Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; Master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associates degree may substitute for six months of experience.

Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following during the interview:

  • Skill in designing, developing and implementing a business intelligence (BI) service.

  • Experience with managing and maintaining MS SQL Server and/or Azure data lake storage.

  • Skill using data management tools and applications to monitor, collect, analyze and archive large amounts of data.

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure data fidelity and provide data expertise regarding trends and patterns in data.

  • Ability to complete ad-hoc data requests ensuring data quality and accuracy standards are met.

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make recommendations for solving problems.

  • Ability to use judgment on complex and ambiguous issues, fostering collaboration among leaders, teams, and stakeholders.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who may not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or common experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in Transact SQL to find and manipulate information in relational databases.

· Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Data Lake Analytics.

· Experience using Azure Data Factory.

· Experience in extracting and transforming data by creating data pipelines.

· Experience in cleansing data for accuracy and ensuring no erroneous errors in data.

· Experience building out data semantic layers that are reusable and meet business needs.

· Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).
