MNIT MDE manages the technical functions critical to managing public education in Minnesota; supporting systems including funding disbursement and large-scale, public-facing school performance data reporting.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

This position requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience in a technical enterprise architecture role that includes:

  • Knowledge of architect standards and conventions such as TOGAF, ISO/IEC, Zachman, Federal Enterprise Architecture, Datawarehouse Architecture, etc.

  • Experience leading strategic enterprise projects.

  • Experience securely designing and implementing large scale enterprise systems.

  • Experience with public and private cloud infrastructure and services, including design, build, securing and integrating.

  • Experience with cloud shared responsibility and security models.

  • Experience providing governance around hybrid cloud services.

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL server environments.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seven or more years in a progressive Enterprise Systems Lead role including prior experience in designing Infrastructure services hybrid clouds, along with providing technical architecture standards programs.

  • Experience leading architecture governance committees and teams.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies, including secure infrastructure design, build and management.

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, including design, securing, patching monitoring and management.

  • Datacenter networking experience, including datacenter networking, software defined networking, micro segmentation and virtual routes.

  • Experience working within the Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware Cloud Foundations, Microsoft Office Suite, Linux and Windows platforms.

  • Datawarehouse architectural experience.

  • Experience with cloud platform automation and infrastructure as code technologies, like, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Azure Bicep, Azure DevOps and / or GitHub Repos and Pipelines.

  • Experience with cloud services (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).

  • Proven ability to work with technology vendors in delivery of various capabilities and solutions.

  • Ability to think outside of the box and strong problem-solving skills to deliver solutions.
