About the Role

Under the direction of the Assistant General Manager, the Production Manager is to manage the operations department through supervising the activities of assigned personnel, and ensuring successful completion of all awarded tool programs, engineering changes and engineering projects. As a seasoned leader with a track record of motivating and developing teams you will lead the production operations in a fast paced manufacturing environment ensuring safety, cost, quality and performance targets are met. Responsible for providing training and facilitating process improvements as needed to ensure World Class Manufacturing.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage all facility activities and personnel reporting to this position. Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and associates; maintain positive employee relations; listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours.

  • Support new program launches. Oversee and direct associates in safe, quality-minded and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain production priorities as scheduled. Monitor the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed.

  • Oversee shift production, maintenance, materials and quality groups making sure that products are produced on time and are of good quality. Escalating to proper staff when needed per escalation policy.

  • Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisions.

  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Logistics and Management.

  • Ensures a robust department structure by maintaining effective staffing levels and creating succession plans and related employee development plans to support current and future needs.

Who we are looking for

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Degree in business administration, management, engineering, industrial technology or related field or combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years of automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years in managing/leading people - automated assembly department preferred.

  • 3 years of technical maintenance or electrical controls experience required. Tool Designer with experience in designing dies, fixtures, inspection gages, and/or special machines preferred.

  • Intermediate computer skills required.

  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbal and written.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact.

  • Good communication skills including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, suppliers and customers.

  • Strong hands-on, day-to-day operational and troubleshooting skills. Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to determine manufacturing feasibility of automotive stampings and assemblies from their piece part drawings.

  • Able to concept complex and cost effective MIG welding, spot welding, and assembly tooling for automotive parts and assemblies.
