Responsibilities
Shipping and receiving clerks, also known as shippers or receivers, manage the movement of products, materials, and supplies in and out of a warehouse:
ReceivingInspecting and accepting goods, ensuring they meet company and regulatory guidelines, and sorting and stocking them
ShippingPreparing items for shipment, such as packaging and weighing them, and printing shipping labels and postage
Record keepingMaintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments, such as manifests, invoices, and orders
CommunicationCollaborating with others involved in the process, such as logistics technicians, customer service representatives, and freight and postal carriers
OrganizationKeeping the work area clean and orderly, and ensuring materials and components are segregated properly
