If you answered yes to all these questions, then we could have the role you are looking for! An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Night Butler to join our sociable and friendly Hamilton Grand team.

Our butlers operate in multiple roles within Hamilton Grand to ensure all needs of the owners and guests are met. They ensure that all Hamilton Grand public areas, guest services and facilities are always maintained. Provide an impeccable level of warm, personalised 5-red star service to Hamilton Grand owners and guests. Hamilton Grand is a range of luxury apartments that overlook the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course Golf Course, the most iconic golf course in the world.

This is a full-time permanent contract, and the shift pattern is from 8pm until 8am, working 4 days in a row with 4 days off. You must also be flexible to cover holidays and sickness shifts of your colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

Arrival Duties

  • Open the door and greet owners /guest with “sense of arrival” by using proper greeting and last name while they are arriving or departing from the building.

  • Upon identification of guest, establish the most efficient procedures of bringing luggage to the apartment and providing storage of golf bags.

  • Register owners/guests in property management system following all 5-red star criteria. Continue to use residents/guest’s name.

  • Escort owners/guests to their apartment with luggage, explaining features of Hamilton Grand, Old Course Hotel and Kohler Waters Spa.

  • Upon arriving at the owners/guest’s apartment, explain the proper procedure of our door lock system and emergency exits, and explain fire procedure.

  • Once in apartment – place luggage on luggage rack (if provided).

  • Proceed to explain the layout of apartment, how TV works, bathroom fixtures, explain how lighting, kitchen cooker, oven, fridge-freezer, heating, and air-con works, explain rubbish collection.

  • Valet Park owners’ vehicle - only if requested or give directions to our parking areas for self-park (Old Course Hotel).

Departure Duties

  • Promptly and courteously greet owners/guest with the proper greeting and use their last name.

  • Remove luggage from owners/guest’s apartment and bring to the lobby, (store in storage closet, luggage room if necessary).

  • Settle account in booking management system if appropriate

  • Retrieve vehicle as requested.

Reservation Duties

  • Maintain a good knowledge of reservation procedures for accommodation, transportation, dining, and golf tee times, spa services – keep up to date with changes at Old Course Hotel restaurant/spa opening times, special offers.

  • If an owner calls to say they are arriving – inputting a reservation into the booking management system.

  • Checking in and checking out, an owner, guest or rental program guest.

  • Settling of account in booking management system for guest or rental guests (owners are billed by accounts department)

Message and Delivery Duties

  • Deliver messages from Front Desk or Concierge to owners/guests.

  • Deliver amenities or a package to owners/guest’s room.

  • Record and conduct live and personal owners/guest room wake-up calls if requested.

  • Any other miscellaneous deliveries required by owners/guest or hotel staff.

  • Assist with grocery deliveries, other deliveries for owners/guests, and place perishables in fridge if owner is not there.

Work Area Duties

  • Maintain a clean work area, including Hamilton Grand lobby, kitchen, and storage closet/cloak room.

  • Furniture should be arranged properly, and debris should be picked up. Report any stains or unkempt areas to housekeeping, assist by keeping the lobby/owner’s lounge/staircase clean and tidy with hoovering, sweeping, dusting as required.

  • Ensure elevators are spotless with no fingerprints on mirrors or brass.

  • Be aware of the outside facilities and make sure the front entrance is kept clean.

  • Front entrance and outlying areas swept daily, including checking railings around the building are dust and cobweb free.

  • Clean any handprints or dirt on the windows.

  • Door and walkway are properly lit. Be alert as to icing conditions and shovel or salt when necessary – around the building and entrance to the building.

Information Duties

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all in-house facilities and hours of operation, as well as daily activities and area attractions. Have a working knowledge of Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa facilities, including Kohler Waters Spa, Duke’s golf course & Clubhouse along with full knowledge of resort dining facilities. Have a general knowledge of the history of Kohler and the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa.

  • Provide guests with information on the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa facilities, and history.

  • Knowledgeable about directions to The Duke’s and traveling time involved. Provide maps if available.

  • Timely response to special requests; inform hotel departments as appropriate.

  • Promote all hotel restaurants.

  • Maintain all safety and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of times and places of daily functions and events.

  • Inform other shifts of daily activities through the use of a Butler Daily Diary/Log book

  • Inform supervisor of any guest problems or unusual circumstances.

  • Maintain a good knowledge of all health and safety, and emergency procedures within the building

  • Maintain a good knowledge of fire regulations, and evacuation procedures within the building

  • To carry out several walkabouts through the building throughout your shift – including unoccupied apartments – to check for security breaches and water ingress.

  • Flushing water systems in unoccupied apartments

  • Report any maintenance issues or scuffs and marks to supervisor.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with parking and retrieving vehicles, when necessary - apartment owners only.

  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested.

Skills/Requirements

Friendly personable manner

Hotel and luxury apartment ownership experience preferred

Excellent computer and systems knowledge

Flexible in approach to workload

Strong attention to detail essential with excellent accuracy

Ability to work well as an individual and as part of a team.

Determined in completing tasks with a can-do attitude.
