All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in this job description and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4, page 1. Workers are needed to plant, maintain and harvest diversified ground vegetable crops, berries including strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, as well tree fruit including apples, pears, peaches and plums. Workers must have a working knowledge of soil tillage, as well as the ability to apply fertilizers and pesticides and operate machinery. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer\'s fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver\'s license. Workers will perform field work of weeding, thinning, hoeing and other duties related to the planting, maintaining and harvesting of crops. Workers will also plant and transplant crops in the fields. Workers may work in a storage building washing, culling, and preparing produce for storage and distribution. Applicants will tend petting zoo farm animals which includes feeding, watering, scheduled cleaning of the animals living spaces, assistance with the animal capture and care daily and as needed. General animal care also includes humane treatment and handling of our small farm animals such as 1-2 calves, \6 Nigerian type goats and their young, birds (including but not limited to) roosters, hens, peafowl, rabbits, and one sow with piglets. The worker WILL NOT perform any milking or dairy chores. Workers must be willing to work in varied weather, ranging from extremely cold and damp in the spring and fall to hot, humid summer days. Work is physically demanding, bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workers must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Workers will use hand and power tools including but not limited to shovels, hoes, pruners, irrigation pumps and chainsaws. Workers may cut brush to keep fields open for crops. During the apple harvest, production must be 7.5 EAB per hour with no more than 5% bruising. The applicants will assist general store/farm staff with maintenance duties as needed, when needed, in the event assistance is deemed temporarily necessary for the optimum operation of the business. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Employers will furnish workers without cost all tools and equipment required to perform duties assigned. Workers may be required to work 4-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Sunday and must be available to work 7-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday through Thursday and must be available to work 4 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Friday and must be available to work 7 hours shift between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Saturday. Workers will get at least 30-minute Lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. Workers will also receive a 15-minute break in the morning and a 15-minute break in the afternoon which will be taken without direction. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. E ployers will notify workers of any change to the schedule. Workers must be able to take direction in simple English.
