KA ENTERPRISES, INC-KEVIN ANDERSON Open Range Livestock Herder in SPRINGDALE, Montana

Temporary full time position from 6/2/2025 to 11/14/2025 Beginning on June 1 livestock herds/flocks are moved to summer range land. The Open Range Livestock Herder will be required to be On-Call 24/7 and live and work on the range more than 50% of the time. While on rangeland, livestock is moved every few days. Range Duties include: Attends livestock that is grazing on range or pasture. Herds livestock. Takes down and sets up of portable electric fencing. Beds down livestock near evening campsite and within night pen. Guard livestock from predatory animals, and from eating poisonous plants. May examine livestock for signs of illness and administer vaccines, medications and insecticides according to instruction. May sort and cut culls. May feed livestock supplementary rations. By November 15 the herds/flocks are all moved to transitional range in preparation the Production (calving/lambing) Season and no longer rotating on the range. The Employee must be willing to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision and live and work singly or in small groups of workers in isolated areas for extended periods of time. Worker will use 4-wheelers and horses during the course of work. Worker must have knowledge of and experience working with cattle, sheep and trained dogs (guard dogs and herding dogs.) Worker must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Most duties are performed out-of-doors and entail exposure to extreme heat and cold; dust, rain, snow, and wind; and herding hazards; poisonous snakes and predators common in range lands. General supervision will be provided by the ranch owner.
