Cornell Cooperative Extension Camp Kitchen Workers, Peconic Dunes Camp - Southold, NY in Southold, New York

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager or Cook, the kitchen assistant helps with food preparation, service, and storage. Responsible for ensuring compliance with sanitary health codes, including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and equipment; disposing of food and other waste products; and storing food properly. Operates the dishwasher and washes pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years or older to meet the age requirements for the position set by the NYS Department of Health.

  • Able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.

  • Able to lift 20-50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Suffolk County Department of Health Food Managers Certificate.

  • 1-2 years previous experience with increasing responsibility in a kitchen.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted nutrition guidelines.

  • Able to operate commercial kitchen equipment.

Salary: $4500 to 6000

Schedule: EXEMPT – TEMP: June 9, 2024 – August 25, 2024
