Job Summary

As a RMO specialist, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of optimal feedstock plan to maximize refinery margins. Using Linear Programming (LP) as the fundamental tool, this role requires you to leverage on your understanding of the refinery business drivers and the energy market, to identify and capture both long and short-term opportunities in the feedstock planning space.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Work with internal stakeholders (commercial team, crude oil & petroleum products trading, shipping) to monitor the dynamic energy market conditions, capture commercial opportunities, and explain any market disconnect.

  • Develop price forecast to determine optimal refinery crude oil processing rate to maximize refinery margins.

  • Drive optimal crude oil and other feedstock selection. Utilize Linear Programming (LP) to test refinery constraints, drive crude oil benchmarking performance, develop new crude oil processing capability, etc.

  • Facilitate knowledge/best practices exchange between refineries to support crude oil selection decisions.

  • Support short term refinery optimization/improvement - product make vs buy, refinery optimization studies, etc.

  • Perform economic evaluations for strategic projects.

  • Support business plan development.

  • Improve existing value chain optimization processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering field

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry, refinery experience in planning and optimization preferred.

  • Good understanding of the refinery process units, optimization levers, constraints and value drivers.

  • Strong commercial acumen and value chain understanding to drive crude oil and feedstock optimization and opportunities.

  • Good analytical skills and ability to interpret data and information and translate into actionable optimization plans.

  • Independent worker with a strong sense of initiative for high level results.

  • Capability to work collaboratively with a broad group of stakeholders and proven ability to work in a diverse culture.

  • Capability to influence without authority.
