Job Description Summary
The Quality Engineer supports the manufacturing cell in aspects of quality assurance/ control and is responsible for the quality planning and conformance of Product/Process Quality to Customer and Engineering requirements. This role reports directly to the Quality Manager.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Facilitate and audit product qualification process for compliance and product conformity
Build-in-Quality PFMEA Champion for the cell
Ensure integrity of measurement systems (MSA) for product verification
Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) for the cell
Independent reviewer for Cell's training competency
Review product non-conformances for disposition and data collection for improvement activities
Drive internal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and effective Corrective and Preventive actions
Conduct assigned process and product audits
Facilitate Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) to meet quarterly savings target
Drive initiatives to increase product/process yield and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) – Scrap, rework, warranty costs
Support cell in implementation and adherence of Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements
Raise quality awareness, conduct quality briefs, monitor and exercise StopWork for quality issues
Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
Required Qualifications
Engineering Degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering
3 years operational, quality and engineering experience in related industry preferred
Understanding of ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
Gas Turbine component repairs experience will be an added advantage
Practitioner of Lean/ 6 Sigma methodologies
Desired Characteristics
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Good analytical skills & experience in performing Root Cause Analysis
Good report writing skills and experience in facilitating audits
Meticulous and data driven
Good understanding with experience of built-in-quality in manufacturing
