The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of Corning’s
Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wireless Data Networks (WLAN) to support a
secure, scalable, supportable, and sustainable Corning network environment around the globe
Leads and manages network engineers in building and sustaining Wide Area Network (WAN) & Local Area
Network (LAN) networks to support Corning’s current and future needs
Guides the creation of innovative solutions on time and within cost objectives, providing technical
leadership, driving implementation, and ensuring excellent support for every aspect of operations is in
place to deliver expected service levels
Manages the change elements associated with new solutions or upgrades to existing solutions
Builds strong, credible, and influential business partnerships to enable and drive change with key
stakeholders
Fosters an environment of collaboration and teamwork between IT organizations and between IT and
business teams to ensure creation of “best in class” Technology support for Corning lines of businesses
and customers
Champions the strategy and roadmap jointly developed by the Domain Architects and Network WAN &
LAN Service Line, manages the implementation of the defined roadmap that includes plans for
expansions, modifications, maintenance, retirement, etc.
Partners with Service Level Management and business stakeholders to define, agree upon, and document
Operational-Level Agreements (OLAs)
Educates stakeholders on current and planned changes to the service
Initial point of escalation for significant incidents interrupting service availability or performance
Delivers on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational-Level Agreements (OLAs)
Responsible for Life Cycle management of hardware and IOS
Responsible for maintaining accurate hardware, software inventory within CMDB
Manages and monitors service pricing and profitability
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
BS in Computer science or related field with advanced degree in Computer Science or Business a plus
ITIL foundation certification a plus
Applicable Network Certifications a plus
WORK EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience implementing and/or management of large-scale data networks, including enterprise class experience with three or more of the following: Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Data Networks (WLAN), and DNS/DHCP
3+ year’s experience delivering and/or supporting network services as part of large business projects, ideally in the manufacturing industry
Understanding of best-in-class and emerging technologies such of Software Defined Networks(SDWAN/SDN), Internet of Things (IoT) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Network Data Center environments and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
Experience in vendor interaction, negotiation, and management
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
Solid knowledge of network technologies, including Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Data Networks (WLAN), Voice over IP and Video with experience on SDWAN/SDN, IoT and NFV a plus, preferably having led implementation and support of those technologies globally
Strong ability to quickly learn new network technologies, leveraging in-house skills as well as external network experts, and guide organizations through significant network technology shifts
Proven track record directly and successfully delivering network data network functions for a large organization in a multi-country, multi-vendor environment
Strong communicator and leader with ability to lead teams directly as well as influence outcomes within cross-functional teams
Able to engage and connect across multiple constituencies in a way that positively influences service outcomes and steers toward change objectives
Creative and innovative thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a self-starter with ability to coordinate and motivate cross-functional and distributed teams
Consistently demonstrates effective organization, prioritization, planning and financial management skills,with ability to handle multiple and/or changing priorities
Adept at managing through change and driving team success
Proven track record of successful execution on a large scale, on time and within budget
Must have a passion for success and demonstrate a proven willingness to go the extra mile, to take on the things that need to be done and maintain a positive attitude that can adapt to change
Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures
Demonstrates excellent financial acuity and ability to drive value – high service quality per unit of cost
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)
CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless and/or other Network certifications
Experience with Network Automation, tools and scripting
Experience with ServiceNow, Solarwinds and NetBrain
Experience with Velocloud (VMWare) and Juniper MIST
Experience with Transport technologies, including Carrier Ethernet, DWDM, etc
Experience with DAS and In Building Cellular technologies
