The Role ...


We are seeking an experienced Senior Sales Planner to collaborate with our Customer Development (CD) team in leading the development of customer-specific strategies and plans aimed at meeting sales targets within approved funding limits. In this role, you will serve as the primary communication liaison between internal cross-functional teams at Hartz, ensuring the CD team is fully briefed on brand strategies, new product launches, item maintenance, meeting details, marketing initiatives, competitive insights, and other pertinent information.


Essential to this role is the ability to adapt and focus on multiple priorities, while still consistently achieving results. Additionally, being an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, is crucial for this role, as you will be the primary contact for communication between our internal teams. This position is located at our Secaucus, NJ office, and has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.


Your Responsibilities ...

  • Collaborate with the CD team directly to develop and maintain accurate customer business plans and to understand key business drivers specific to each customer
  • Develop promotional strategies that achieve short and long-term sales, profit and share objectives for our Top 30 customers
  • Meet and exceed established brand strategy KPI's by ensuring Hartz brand strategies are executed with key strategic customers
  • Lead and identify opportunities to close the sales-to-target gap with the CD team
  • Support the internal Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process by communicating customer-specific distribution updates to the Procurement team
  • Utilize promotion evaluations provided by the Customer Planning Analyst to advise the CD team on optimizing future promotional planning
  • Conduct ongoing reviews with the CD team to maximize the return on approved category funding that is invested with customers
  • Maximize the return on the approved slotting budget by planning with the CD team
  • Serve as the primary communication channel between the CD team and internal cross-functional teams
  • Attend weekly brand meetings and provide updates on specific customers
  • Maintain the health of inventory (HOI) by implementing customer-specific actions as directed by the Customer Planning Director
Requirements

You'll Need ...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business-related discipline or related field and 3+ years' experience in Sales/Customer Planning or; in lieu of degree, 7+ years' experience in Sales/Customer Planning
  • Proven success managing customer business plans, promotion spending, trade spending, pricing strategies and distribution strategies for strategic key customers in CPG; pet manufacturer experience highly desired
  • Experience in developing and supporting sales presentations to key strategic customers
  • Experience using syndicated data and financial reporting tools (TM1 preferred) to support business development and sales efforts
  • Previous experience in a direct selling environment a plus
  • Ability to focus on priorities in a dynamic environment and consistently deliver results
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
