REI Tax Analyst in Seattle, Washington
Overview
This job contributes to REI’s success by providing strategic support in all aspects of indirect tax. This position requires in-depth knowledge of tax law and broad experience in indirect tax. This position will engage in tax projects and all regulatory challenges as well as developing, streamlining and documenting processes. This position also initiates cross-divisional collaborations to ensure REI is in compliance. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Assist in planning company acitivities to minimize the Co-Op’s tax burden
Keep abreast of tax law developments through reading, continuing educations, and networking with other retail companies
Assist with tax projects and compliance related tasks
Assist in identifying and evaluating company’s exposure and implement resolutions to minimize risks.
Streamline and document processes.
Coordinate new store opening, relocation, and closure – work with IT, Treasury, and Finance
Assist in Tax GL reconciliations and reporting
Proactively monitor tax rate and/or rule changes
Support tax audits including pulling and analyzing relevant data
Preferred:
- CPA or advanced tax degreed desired but not required
Required:
BA or BS in Accounting
2 years of broad indirect tax experience in a multi-state environment (retail a plus)
1+ years of tax research software experience and project management
Knowledge of applicable tax software and automated accounting systems (Sovos(Taxware)/ Vertex, Thomson Reuters Onesource and Checkpoint, and SAP a plus) and advanced Microsoft Excel
Effective work methods and good organization and time management skills
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to identify, analyze, and objectively solve problems, and excellent follow through and attention to detail

Pay Range
$65,000 - $85,000 per year
