Capgemini System Engineer - Core (Consumer Retail Technology) in Seattle, Washington
About the job you’re considering:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Consumer Retail Technology System Engineer to join our Core team. This position requires a strong background in Windows environments and retail operations, along with Point-of-Sale (POS) hardware and software experience. System Engineers work closely with multi-functional teams, including installation, software deployment, and Tier 3 (T3) support, to optimize system performance and reliability.
Your Role:
Lead the full lifecycle of retail POS systems, including evaluation, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
Build, maintain, and fix Operating System Images.
Configure and test operating systems and application software for efficient performance.
Integrate peripherals to POS, Edge, and File servers (Back Office Servers).
Maintain system management tools to ensure smooth operations.
Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve software deployment efficiency and system management.
Optimize deployment scripts to improve fault tolerance and reliability.
Develop solving scripts to assist the Level 2 Operations team in diagnosing and resolving issues.
Assist with installation and software deployment processes across retail locations.
Collaborate with Tier 3 support teams to solve and resolve system issues related to Point-of-Sale systems (POS), Mobile POS automation, and integration (hardware and software).
Refine and improve software deployment strategies for better efficiency.
Develop scripts to automate tasks for installation, software deployment, and T3 sub-teams.
Develop new Terraform scripts to define and manage infrastructure as code (IaC).
Your skills and experience:
Strong expertise in Windows operating systems and retail POS environments.
Proficiency in PowerShell for automation.
Experience with software deployment tools (e.g., SCCM, Marimba, Intune).
Hands-on experience with POS hardware and system configuration.
Familiarity with networking principles related to POS systems (e.g., VPNs, firewalls, IP configurations).
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail IT environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with operating systems (Windows Server, Oracle, VMware) and Windows administration, Group policy, security hardening, boot process (WinPE/IPXE).
Experience with Terraform, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), and Azure.
Proficiency in Oracle Simphony or related knowledge.
Familiarity with Git, Docker, Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD, Datadog, Splunk.
Experience writing scripts using Python. - Azure Cloud Experience (Especially App Gateway - load balancer that enables you to manage traffic).
