Things like Music, timers and alarms are top of mind for people, but customers have a tough time discovering other features/content they might find useful or entertaining. We want to solve the problem of how to enable Alexa to run fast when it comes to enabling proactive experiences and help customers get more out of their devices.
Key job responsibilities
Responsible for the development and maintenance of key system features
Will work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
Will work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against tight deadlines.
Will work across teams and different orgs on various projects.
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to influence, invent, and design system architecture. You will be responsible for building the best customer experience, keeping latency, security, and usability in mind. You will interact with Product Managers and Designers and convert their vision into a technical solution. You will collaborate with other engineering leads on best practices and set examples by using them in solutions that you build.
The ideal candidate is clearly passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to team work, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems.

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
