Prime Video Product and Tech is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to own the critical data architecture and data products that power our industry-leading Prime Video service. As the Sr. Manager of Data Engineering for Prime Video, you will be responsible for establishing the long-term data and team strategy to support the rapidly growing catalog of movies, TV shows, live sports, and premium channel subscriptions offered to our over 200 million Prime members worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team of Data Engineering managers, Data Engineers, and Business Intelligence Engineers supporting the Prime Video platform, setting the vision and standards for their work.

  • Partner with Prime Video business and technical leaders to assess the viability and roadmap of the data systems and products that power the service, incorporating the latest industry trends and innovations.

  • Empower your teams to innovate and deliver new data-driven capabilities for Prime Video, while providing hands-on guidance to ensure projects stay on track and achieve intended outcomes.

  • Set standards of excellence for data quality, testability, maintainability, and efficiency across the Prime Video data ecosystem.

  • Drive the adoption of best practices and establish key performance metrics to continuously optimize the Prime Video data architecture and supporting data products.

  • Grow and develop your senior engineers and managers through coaching, strategic project assignments, and exposure to Prime Video and Amazon senior leadership.

  • Take ownership of results, both positive and negative, for the Prime Video data systems and teams you oversee, and recognize the contributions of your team members.

  • Contribute to broader Amazon and Prime Video initiatives around recruiting, talent development, and operational excellence.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced, consumer-facing environment.

  • Deep expertise in building and scaling data-intensive systems to support large-scale video streaming and subscription-based services.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders to translate Prime Video requirements into innovative technical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop your team.

  • Experience driving large-scale, complex engineering initiatives and resolving endemic data-related problems.

  • Knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in video streaming, data analytics, and cloud-based data architectures.

  • Familiarity with Amazon's Leadership Principles and a commitment to upholding them within the Prime Video organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in streaming video, content analytics, and customer lifecycle analytics.

  • Experience with big-data technologies and real-time data architecture.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $314,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
