The Product Management team guides the strategy and vision for Disney’s incredible global digital products portfolio - from Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and the ESPN App to Marvel Unlimited, National Geographic, ABC and ABC News, and film websites and games. Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Analyst who is passionate about data, understands the importance of fostering communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, and enjoys diving deep into data products! This role is instrumental in ensuring we have data that is reliable, consistent, and accurate across its data products and platforms. The Senior Data Governance Analyst is a collaborator who partners with teams across data domains and functional areas. You will help ensure compliance with data governance policies for large scale initiatives and projects, support alignment of our critical data metrics, and ensure standard methodologies for data management. In addition, this role is instrumental in developing and leading data standards, processes, and procedures, and ensuring that our data is treated as a corporate asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with partners who are responsible for data ownership, classification, and metadata management of our data products and platforms, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Data Governance policies.

  • Leads Business/Functional Data Working Groups to define and document current state business processes, collect necessary metadata, define metrics and terms, identify data challenges, and document recommendations.

  • Assists in the identification, metadata capture, and data quality rule documentation of Critical Data Elements, Reference Data, and Master Data, ensuring that data management standard methodologies are followed.

  • Ensures the standardization, consistency and commonality for data dictionaries, attribute glossaries, metrics, and data assets that are contained in the Alation Data Catalog.

  • Proactively identifies the need for internal Data Governance projects and initiatives, taking ownership of the work and seeing it through to the finish line.

  • Advocates for data governance initiatives and promotes a culture of data stewardship and accountability across the organization.

  • Provides training and support to partners to increase data literacy and awareness of data governance principles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Stewardship, Master Data Management, Data Quality, or Metadata Management field.

  • Deep understanding of Data Governance principles, policies, and standard processes; knowledge of data ownership, data classification, metadata management, and compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, COPPA is critical.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills and ability to proactively solve problems.

  • Experience with a data catalog tool such as Alation, Collibra, or Informatica Axon.

  • Knowledge of any of the following: Python, SQL, SnowFlake, AWS, GitHub

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Media & Entertainment field a plus

  • Experience in consulting

  • Training experience

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required

The hiring range for this position in Seattle and New York City is $118,000 - $158,200 per year and in Los Angeles is$112,600 - $151,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
