The Software Quality Assurance Lead, digital accessibility, needs to have strong accessibility testing knowledge, communication and interpersonal skills, deep functional and technical knowledge of digital accessibility requirements and implementation best practices. This role focuses on continuous feedback and accessibility improvements to digital products and services through effective collaboration with a variety of roles across Starbucks Technology.

As a Software Quality Assurance Lead, digital accessibility, you will:

· Work across the Starbucks Technology portfolio supporting accessibility testing in a wide range of initiatives

· Lead automated and manual testing of partner and customer facing digital products and services, whether applications or feature development, across a variety of platforms (web, mobile)

· Support digital accessibility growth within internal teams by leading defect reviews, providing mentorship/advice/recommendations, and providing training on Starbucks approach to digital accessibility, enterprise tools, and standard methodologies, enabling team expertise and ownership

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Product Definition & Value

· Responsible for understanding business requirements, understanding digital accessibility trends and opportunities, problem solving and proposing solutions.

· Collaborate and support the digital accessibility team with office hours, authoring intranet content, evolving and integrating testing frameworks and techniques, authoring communication articles and leading training

· Support internal QA and QE/SDET teams providing expertise on enterprise tool usage and automation integration, how to interpret testing results, categorization, deduplicating and prioritizing defects

· Manage product planning through day-to-day collaboration and decision making with a cross-functional team including UX Design, engineers, QA, and business partners.

· Keeping internal project stories/tickets up to date.

· Identify opportunities to improve accessibility and usability using data.

Communication and Collaboration

· Develop and maintain team digital accessibility resources for internal digital teams.

· Serve as a subject matter expert for digital accessibility laws, standards, and guidelines.

· Lead digital accessibility QA program meetings to share best practices across multiple teams.

· Interact directly with business stakeholders to understand business challenges and requirements

· Present options/recommendations clearly and persuasively to support business stakeholder decisions

· Work with UX Design and engineering teams to understand, prioritize and document accessibility requirements.

Product Planning & Delivery

· Consult on new tools and processes to enable adherence and ease in achieving digital accessibility

· Log and triage defects, defect prioritization, and participate in defect reviews supporting development teams or 3 rd party vendors, advocating for digital accessibility remediation

· Integrate digital accessibility into iterative, agile development processes

· Identify and document accessibility tradeoffs as well as dependencies and constraints

· Perform validation of feature against stated goals; facilitate and/or perform user review/acceptance testing

· Effective communication of accessibility delivery milestones and progress

· Support accessibility roadmap creation on future initiatives.

Summary of Experience

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or relevant field

· Strong understanding of WCAG and ARIA specification as well as knowledge of U.S. and international digital accessibility laws and standards.

· 5+ years of experience with evaluating and testing websites, web applications and mobile native applications for digital accessibility

· Detailed knowledge of a broad range of technologies:

o Accessibility on various platforms including Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS

o Video and other digital media

o PDF and other document standards

· Strong knowledge of manual and automated accessibility testing tools, resources, and testing frameworks (axe, Wave, color/contrast, etc.)

· Knowledge of testing best practices and approaches for custom developed and commercial digital applications and services

· Knowledge of test management processes, both functional and non-functional test planning and execution, version control and defect tracking methods using associated tools, i.e. Jira or similar

· Hands on knowledge of assistive technology (i.e. screen readers, magnifiers, alternative input, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of technologies including but not limited to: (Familiarity of these languages/specifications are nice to have but not mandatory)

o HTML 4 and 5

o CSS 2 and 3

o JavaScript Libraries

o React and React Native, Angular, SwiftUI, etc.

· Familiarity with Figma (or other design and prototyping platform), Miro, Confluence.

· Ability to guide and coach colleagues in one on one, small group, or large forum environments

· Detailed and results-oriented, able to analyze data to justify accessibility decisions and apply key learnings.

· Ability to apply knowledge of business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities

· Experience working with Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) is a plus

· Strong verbal and written communications skills

· Consistently uses communications skills to influence outcomes within a known skill set

· Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines with great attention to detail

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
