Amazon Software Development Manager, Amazon in Seattle, Washington

Description

Within the Amazon Fashion and Fitness organization, our team's mission is to help customers discover and shop for products that are trendy and complementary to their shopping needs, enabling them to make purchase decisions for items they truly love. We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead large, cross-functional programs that leverage cutting-edge engineering and ML/LLM technologies for detecting industry trends, and use those insights to make Amazon the most loved destination for customers to discover and shop for trendy products.

Key job responsibilities:

  • You will lead a 2-pizza team, mentoring and developing SDEs at different experience levels.

  • You will closely collaborate with your partnering teams and leadership to define the tenets, vision, and roadmap for your team and the underlying systems you oversee.

  • You will lead your team in building highly scalable data pipelines and services that can be expanded worldwide to power innovative customer experiences, as well as developing new solutions that improve product discoverability, educate customers about trends, and build personalized shopping experiences.

  • You influence and empower other teams across the organization to benefit from our advanced trend detection and analysis capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
