Amazon Software Development Engineer, Security Incident Response Engineering in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Security is looking for a Software Development Engineer who is passionate about building scaled software supporting the high-tempo needs of security operations at Amazon. Our team's mission is to build the best worldwide end-to-end security findings management solution for security operation teams.

Our systems/products are critical path and used by security engineers daily in their quest to defend Amazon and its customers against internal and external threats.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will work with other members of our growing team to investigate approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility of ideas.

  • You will write high quality distributed software systems using AWS technologies.

  • You will take an active part in leading the design, development and operations of software/tooling used to keep Amazon’s customers safe

  • You will ship software in a fast-paced environment and collaborate on new approaches to building and serving Amazon’s security.

The Amazon Defensive Security Organization protects and defends customer trust by ensuring resilience to information security threats. We strive to understand our attack surface and threats, respond with adaptive defenses based on risk. Software Engineering is a core component that helps us achieve our mission through building high-profile, critical software platforms at scale that allow security professionals at Amazon to focus on new and unknown threats while software manages all known unknowns.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • 3+ years of professional experience building scalable software solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS) or equivalent, including familiarity with serverless computing and security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience building scalable software solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
