AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) in the AWS Workforce Planning team, you will be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including architecture, design, development, documentation, testing and operations. You will be an important part of the AWS Workforce products team and will focus on leveraging native AWS solutions to build and scale scrappy and new applications that will deliver consumer like experiences to AWS employees and candidates.

You will work closely with small teams of Software Engineers, Product Managers, Data Engineers and Scientists to create best practices/tooling in workforce planning, ML modeling, and analysis. You will enable a global staff of workforce strategists and cross functional groups to perform scenario analysis and understand downstream impact of workforce decisions. As a tech expert, you will be an advocate for compelling user experiences and will demonstrate the value of automation and data-driven planning tools in HR.

This Role will:

  • Actively collaborate with our product manager and implementation team to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Lead designing, building, and testing features for brand new planning applications.

  • Support and collaborate with our with our other SDEs and DEs.

  • Consider and advise on key design and technology trade-offs as we launch, scale and migrate new planing applications.

Workforce Planning (a part of the AWS People Experience and Technology Business) is embedded in every part of the planning ecosystem including financial planning targets, optimization modeling, talent and location intelligence, headcount planning, forecasting and much more, touching every step of the employee lifecycle up to the point of hire. Our small team of strategists, PMs, developers, data engineers and scientists are passionate about using technology and data driven decisions to define the "who, what, when, and where" of the AWS workforce.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Fullstack Experience: FE - HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Demonstrated experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.

  • BE - experience with backend development of microservices with RESTful APIs. Should have deep expertise with at least one backend framework such as Spring, Django, Gin, or Express.js

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Cloud Architecture: experience with cloud services development such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience deploying serverless (AWS Lambda) APIs. Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) or similar.

  • Database Skills: Familiarity with relational DBs such as PostgresSQL, BI Data Warehouses such as AWS Redshift, and NoSQL Databases such as DynamoDB.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
