Amazon Software Development Engineer, Alexa Subscriptions Growth in Seattle, Washington

Description

We are looking for an SDEII to join us in this exciting journey for Alexa as part of the Alexa Subscription Growth org.

What we do? We have an exciting charter as we work towards how customers discover, purchase, and use digital subscriptions and skills across hundreds of 1P/2P/3P domains that will be support through the LLM/ Generative AI capabilities that we are building within Alexa. This involves building experiences that span across Mobile App, Retail, and variety of touchpoints on Echo Devices/ Fire TV, involves having a deep understanding of distributed systems and designing performant services that are able to handle 1000s of TPS of actual Alexa customer traffic. Key job responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Think Big and Invent and Simplify in terms of identifying problems proactively and coming up innovative solutions.

  • Demonstrate Bias for action and Deliver results in building the right strategy to unblock yourself, find ways to incrementally deliver small while working towards a long term vision, and knowing when to escalate in cases you are blocked.

  • Demonstrate Hire and Develop the best and Insist on the highest standards in being a champion when it comes to developing other SDEs within the team through code and design reviews, operational excellence, and sharing knowledge broadly across different AWS technologies

  • Demonstrate high ownership and Earns trust when it comes to working with product and other engineering managers, SDEs, and teams within the org as we build new services/ features and integrate our services with a variety of different touchpoints.

  • Last but by no means the least, demonstrate strong learn and be curious in keeping up with all the new technologies out there especially Gen AI, Deep Learning, and ML and how we can best apply to exponentially grow the business.

A day in the life

You would be working with several teams across Alexa, Devices, and Retail in building the right customer experiences and services to help customers engage with Alexa, find products and experiences, buy them, use them, and love them.

You would be actively designing new services and components through design review, building critical path code that integrates with several critical Alexa systems and services that can scale to thousands of TPS to deliver the best customer experience on Alexa over voice and touch.

You would be working with other senior and principal engineers within the org in building the tech strategy that shapes the future of our org as we revolutionalize how customers buy goods on Alexa.

You would be working closely with Product, UX, and other senior engineers within the team/ org

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
