ZILLOW INC Senior Software Development Engineer in Seattle, Washington
Zillow, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for its Seattle, Washington office.
Job Duties: Responsible for building and scaling the company's core backend search platform. Tackle challenging problems in the information retrieval domain and innovate on core search areas such as indexing, query understanding, autocomplete, search relevancy, predictive search, metrics tracking and geo-spatial search. Work with large-scale property data and customer engagement data by building data processing pipelines and data retrieval services for the search platform. Architect, design, and develop highly scalable backend services to provide a continuously improved search experience. Design search algorithms, web services, search indexing pipelines, analytics pipelines, ML models, and recommendation systems. Develop APIs, microservices and build highly available services. Telecommuting is permitted.
Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field*
Experience Requirements: Five (5) years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in each of the following:*
- Data processing for machine learning model training
- Developing data pipelines for search engine data ingestion and retrieval
- Crafting user experiences using programming languages such as Java or Python
- Developing APIs, microservices and building high-quality backend software systems
- Leading the design, development, and launch of highly scalable services and web applications
*Employer will accept a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in all of the above in lieu of a Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience.
